Ingredients
- 8 medium sized apples (eg: "Goudreinet" or other type that cooks well in the oven)
- 100 ml milk
- 125 g self-raising flour
- 2 medium eggs
- 60 g butter
- 100 g caster sugar
- 50 g dark sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven at 175 Celcius
- Peel the apples and remove the core.
- In a small bowl, mix the dark sugar and cinnamon.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, caster sugar and 50g of the butter, the eggs and the milk. Mix together with a mixer. The consistency should be between pancake batter and cake dough. Optionally add a small pinch of salt.
Assembly
- Butter a large oven dish. It should fit the 8 apples, but not leave too much space around them.Put the apples in with the holes of the removed cores aligned vertically. Fill these hole with the cinnamon and dark sugar mixture. Put a a bit of butter on top.
- Poor the dough into the disk around/over the apples.
- Put in the oven for ~45 minutes or until the dough has browned and is firm. Test if it is fully cooked using a pointy (wooden) stick. It should come out clean.
